DELL WARRANTY REMINDER EMAIL SEMI-FAIL

As I progress through my career I learn more and more about customer engagement every week. As such when I receive contact from businesses I look at them in a different light that most. Below is one example I just had to post.

I am impressed that Dell are following up on my warranty. However, I am not impressed with what seems to be a lack of personalisation in the email I received from Dell. Thinking about it, it's the fact they TRY to be personal in the email. I would have preferred a more 'robot' response for what looks like a template email (especially when the email says we/Dell would like to give you the contact details of the very person the email is supposed to be from?). This on top of having blank spaces and bad grammar does not give customers confidence in your work.

PS. I have entered the X's and removed contact details.

Back at Home and Back to Work

Training camp 'WANNABERACR OHTEN' is officially over. We came home from up the coast yesterday morning (9th Feb), but only after I finished my last training sessions for the camp - a 40 minute gym workout + 15 minutes of laps in the pool.

Mind you, the exercise didn't stop there. After all of the rain over the last week it meant I had to get going on the 1.5 hour job that is mowing my lawn.

Time to get back into work for two days before then heading to Mt Panorama for 3 days covering the Bathurst 12 hour.

Pies, Seafood & Related Photos

Well, day 2 up the coast at my so called "WANNABERACR OHTEN' training camp. The big secret, ok not so much of a secret, is that today is my birthday and also my wife's birthday.

The day started with a 40min work out at the fitness centre, then pies to make up for my exercise. Afterwards we headed out to spend some birthday money before heading up to Terrigal for prawns. Thankfully the weather turned good for the day - check out the photos.

As I write this I have also been for a run & swim in the ocean and am just about to head out for another round of seafood for dinner.

BTW - Ettalong Pies have the BEST pies! We had Beef, Bacon & Cheese - the best we have tasted, and we have tasted a few! We are definitely going back tomorrow before heading home.

Ciao for now.

A Run, Swim and a Refuel

Training camp WANNABERACR OHTEN is going very well.

I went for the longest run I ever remember doing - a 6.8km run, with half the run down & back Umina Beach. Time to complete the run was 42mins.

Then after a 15min break I headed down to the pool and probably swam around 1 to 1.5km (non-standard pool), all freestyle.

And of course after all of that exercise I had to refuel - and what better way that a hamburger with the works + a beer.

Loving the life!

Photo from Pre-Season Training Base Camp

After weeks of reading tweets & facebook updates from racecar drivers talking about their pre-season training camps, I decided to have one of my own, appropriately named "WANNABERACR OHTEN".

I will give updates at the end of the day as to my training regime. Now I am off to check out the gym facilities before going for a jog.

A Client's Posters for Sponsors

I was going to simply upload these drafts of posters (created for a client) to my online drop location for download and review. But hey, we are in a sharing world nowadays so I thought I would share instead, then just send the link to the client.

I am pleased with the results, I've still got a long way before I get close to what a trained & skilled graphic designer could come up with. Not bad for someone who has no formal training & using Paint Shop Pro.

I hope you like them & Rob, I hope you like them even better!

Serious Clouds

First of all, let me apologise for the time between posts. I haven't been on public transport for some time, which usually gives me both the time & inspiration for posts. Enough with the excuses.

Yesterday, whilst attending a sprint car race at Parramatta City Raceway, a big storm rolled in from the west and some interesting cloud patterns formed. I took the opportunity to capture a few images of the clouds and thought I would share them.

The images are straight from the camera with only a RAW > JPG conversion done.

Enjoy,

Stress Reduction Technique

(Hat tip to Jackie J for sharing - anyone know the original author to give credit to?)

Just in case you are having a rough day, here is a stress management technique recommended in all the latest psychological journals. The funny thing is that it really does work and will make you smile...

Picture yourself lying on your belly, on a warm rock that hangs out over a crystal clear stream. Both of your hands are dangling in the cool running water whilst birds are sweetly singing in the cool mountain air.

No one knows your secret place. You are in total seclusion from that hectic place called the world. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity.

The water is so crystal clear that you can easily make out the face of the person you are holding underwater.

There see? It really does work... You're smiling already.
